In Any Given Moment We Have Two Options:
To Step Forward Into Growth
Or To Step Back Into Safety
-Abraham Maslow
I love watching people grow and make positive changes in their lives, it is the most rewarding aspect of what I do and I would be honored to take that first step and many steps thereafter with you as an individual, family, or your child/adolescent and provide that safe place for growth and change. I know change can be difficult and scary at times but a strength that I have as a therapist is having an optimistic outlook and strong belief in the possibility of personal growth and change yet being sensitive that everyone is unique in their situations and in the speed at which they go about making those changes.
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maine, I earned my MA in Clinical Counseling Psychology from Union Institute and University in Brattleboro, VT and received my BS in Psychology with Honors from Fitchburg State University in Fitchburg, Massachusetts.
I welcome and have over 8 years of experience working with adults, children, adolescents and families. I consider myself to be open-minded and have always been accepting of people of all races, genders, sexual orientations, religions, ages, and abilities. Areas of focus include but are not limited to: Anxiety Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, Depression, life transitions, trauma, self-esteem, child/adolescent behavioral issues, parent child relationship issues.
I would consider my treatment approach to be strengths based and eclectic meaning that I build upon your strengths and use multiple sets of techniques. I do not attempt to fit you into a particular theoretical model or approach but instead try to learn from you and gradually try to develop a treatment approach that is unique and personal to you.
I have been trained in areas of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Play Therapy, Parenting Therapy and I am always enthusiastic to take part in continued education and learning new approaches to treatment to ensure that I stay up-to-date on developments in my field to be able to provide you with the best service possible.
